The show was a one shot deal that apparently was slated for a series but never made it. The lead was Tita, the captain of a spaceship used to hunt rare animals (for pets), who, along with her crew, get involved in a military drama when the daughter of a scientist is chased by a bunch of military thugs who'll stop at nothing to retrieve her. She has the code to unlock a super powerful weapon and her father is dead, not having survived their interrogation. The girl, Elysse, is a 16 year old who stumbles across Tita and the rest of the show details how they attempt to keep one step ahead of the authorities.

Unlike the rare sexuality of Najica Blitz Tactics or implied innuendoes of Dirty Pair, there was a lot of nudity. There wasn't any adult antics with it, but some people get weirded out by "naked cartoons". I liked the premise and wish ADV had started the series on its own since there was a lot to work with here. Granted, the show itself was kind of limited, clocking in at under an hour, and there wasn't a lot of plot here but at least it was fun. I'm going to rate this one as a Recommended since the new release is cheaper, fun to watch, and silly enough to bring a smile to the face of the grumpiest person (I tried, it worked).

Picture: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color, like most anime these days. It looked it's age but still seemed pretty clear in terms of colors and a clean image. I didn't see a lot of print scratches and the grain was minimal although a bit of mosquito noise appeared from time to time.

Sound: The audio was presented with a choice of either the original 2.0 Dolby Digital Japanese stereo track with English subtitles or the newly remastered 5.1 Dolby Digital surround English track. In terms of music and effects, the newly remastered dub track sounded better but in terms of vocals, I preferred the original Japanese track. Normally, I'm not a subtitle snob but this was one case where the dub wasn't all that great. The dynamic range and clarity of both tracks was pretty good for a ten year old release.

Extras: The only real extras of merit were the short section of sketches and artwork…and the jiggle counter that counted the amount of times the female character's breasts bounced. I kind of like the potential for that counter although I'll be the first to admit whoever thought of it is a pervert (who probably lives in the basement of his mother's house). There were also some trailers and a paper insert that listed the chapters.

Final Thoughts: Plastic Little is a fun show with decent production values and a couple of cute extras at a low price. If you're old enough to enjoy the mature themes, you'll probably enjoy it as an interesting diversion.
