Eye of God
Picture: The picture was presented in the original 1.85 ratio and looked above average in clarity for an independent film. The were a lot of details to look for here and it took repeated viewing to catch a number of them.
Sound: The sound was in Dolby 2.0 and was sparse but clear. The soundtrack included a number of country songs but the score consisted of only a few seconds during a single scene.
Extras: The only real extra here was the Director's audio commentary which was an informative and interesting look into the director's vision. Thankfully, it cleared up a few things but it also left me wanting to know more about some of his decisions.
Final Thoughts: If you like tragic stories about small town life, particularly well acted independent filmmaker versions, you'll appreciate this one a lot. The Director discussed how the screenplay was adapted from a stage setting and that spoke volumes about some of the methods employed to tell the story. I think his attempt at a unique look into a murder mystery was mostly successful and fans of the genre will like it even more than I did. Amazingly, the price on this one is really reasonable, giving people even more reason to check it out.
